Cold calls are one of the key teaching practises that we use in our classrooms to ensure that every student feels comfortable participating and actively engaging with learning.
Rather than relying on the same students with their hands up, teachers set up a safe environment where students know they may be called on at any time, building confidence, participation, and ensuring students don’t fall through the gaps.
In this video, students share how cold calls work and the supportive strategies they can use when they don’t know the answer – it’s always good to know you can phone a friend!
